Prize Money:
Estimated $3,600 in prize money for each style category, divided as follows:

Referral Fee:
Since there will be no contest without contestants, we need help in recruiting talented people to compete and are offering prize money to the persons who recruits the Division Champions in each age division. Performing Artist will be asked to name whomever introduced them to the contest, if anyone, at registration. You may help by handing out a Referral Card which you can get on our website and/or just email us the names, phone numbers and/or email addresses of your favorite Artists to ted@utahtalentshowdown.com and we will invite them to participate.
Audience:
Each singer/songwriter is asked to bring out at least 10 supporters when they perform.
Audience members may purchase tickets in advance.
The singer/songwriter who brings in the most audience members over the course of the entire contest will receive prize money.
This contest will be conducted as outlined on our website under The Contest and will last approximately 12 weeks with each singer competing every weeks until the champions are crowned.
Champions will be crowned in each style division and then will move on to compete for Grand Champion.
Winners may compete in as many as 6 rounds throughout the contest before one will be crowned Grand Champion.
To register, singer/songwriters must fill out and submit the entry form on our website.
A registration fee of $35 will be due upon notice of acceptance. Fees are payable online via PayPal.
A mandatory meeting will be held prior to the contest to discuss rules and procedures and draw for bracket positioning to set dates and times.
All singer/songwriters are required to check in 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the round of competition and submit 4 printed copies of the lyrics to each song being preformed in that round.
Each singer/songwriter must come prepared to perform two songs with at least one new song that has not been preformed in previous rounds. Novices exempt from the new song rule. Time limit not to exceed 8 minutes. There will be 2 minutes between performances to allow for set-up.
The sound system and sound technician will be provided by the house. Singer/Songwriters must bring their own instruments and cables. A house piano is available if needed. Only solo acts are eligible; duos, trios, and troupes will not be considered and should sign up in the bands category.
Musical selection should not be suggestive or contain off-color language and must be appropriate for the family-type audience usually in attendance. Non-adherence to this policy will be grounds for disqualification from the competition.
One round constitutes 2 Singer/Songwriters competing one on one against each other.
Each round will be judged by two or more professional judges. Each member of the audience will also cast a vote in cases where judges disagree on a winner, the audience vote will act as a tie-breaker vote.
